Flying discs

Flying discs are discs made from plastic  which are thrown by one player to another.  The rights to the design are owned by Wham-O company from the USA, which has trademarked the term Frisbee.  However, today it is largely used as a generic term to describe any flying disc.

The  sport first became popular in the 1960's and is usually played as a recreational activity during picnics and vacations.  It also a competitive sport.

The average diameter of a frisbee is 20 to 25 centimeters though there are a lot of variations in design.  Manufacturers of frisbees use computer aided design software to initiate create a model. Based on this, a prototype is then made to test the design.

Sometimes, a wind tunnel and other sophisticated equipment  are used to test flying characteristics, depending on the type of frisbee, to check the performance at different speeds. High precision CNC machines now ensure that manufacturing tolerances within a few thousandths of an inch are now available.
